Thermoplastic vs Standard Striping

Fresh pavement markings in a commercial parking lot

Standard traffic paint and thermoplastic both have a place. The right choice depends on traffic load, budget, pavement condition, expected lifespan, and how quickly the area needs to reopen.

Standard Traffic Paint

Standard striping paint is the practical choice for most commercial stalls, arrows, curb markings, and routine restriping. It is cost-effective, efficient to apply, and works well when the pavement is dry and properly prepared.

Thermoplastic

Thermoplastic costs more but can last longer in high-wear areas such as stop bars, crosswalks, entrance arrows, and heavy pedestrian zones. It is not the right answer for every lot, especially if the pavement is failing or likely to be resurfaced soon.
