How Long Does Parking Lot Striping Last on the Gulf Coast?

Parking lot restriping after faded pavement markings

Most commercial lots along the Mississippi Gulf Coast need repainting every 18 to 36 months, but the real answer depends on weather, traffic, pavement condition, and maintenance history.

What Shortens Marking Life

Humidity, heat, rain, standing water, UV exposure, salt air, sweeping, turning tires, and heavy delivery traffic all wear pavement markings. Lots near Highway 90, beachfront businesses, casinos, hotels, and high-turnover retail usually fade faster than low-traffic office lots.

Sealcoating resets the surface and normally requires repainting after the coating cures. Hurricane-season scheduling can also compress available work windows because striping needs dry pavement.
